From March 10 to 12, 2026, Embedded World 2026 was held in Nuremberg, Germany. ArmSoM’s Sige5 (RK3576) appeared at Collabora’s Booth #4-404 as core hardware in its LAVA board farm, demonstrating mainline-first Linux support — earning high recognition from Collabora officials and exhibition attendees. The two parties reached in-depth consensus on open source ecosystem cooperation, jointly advancing upstream development for the RK3576 platform and embedded hardware.

As a world-leading open source technology service provider, Collabora’s LAVA board farm is a key testing and demonstration platform for mainline Linux support on embedded hardware. Sige5 was selected for its strong alignment with the embedded open source hardware ecosystem and its mature mainline Linux adaptation capabilities.

Sjoerd Simons, Core Systems Lead at Collabora, commented:

“We chose the Sige5 for our testing infrastructure at Embedded World because it exemplifies the direction we want to see in the embedded hardware ecosystem. The RK3576 platform combines capable hardware with a genuine commitment to upstream Linux support from the vendor. Collabora’s work getting initial RK3576 support into kernel 6.12 demonstrates the value of hardware vendors prioritizing upstream development — mainline support means better long-term maintenance, broader community testing, and the ability to run standard distributions without extensive patching. That’s the foundation reliable testing infrastructure needs.”

Sige5 delivered outstanding technical performance at the exhibition. Collabora engineers noted that the board was quickly integrated into the LAVA test environment, with core interface support already present in the upstream 6.19.x stable kernel and the device tree fully upstreamed — enabling rapid proof-of-concept and operation. While Rockchip promoted its mainline Linux support at its own booth, attendees saw that commitment put into practice on the Sige5 at Collabora’s LAVA board farm — a standout highlight of the show. As the first RK3576 hardware board obtained by Collabora, Sige5 will continue to serve as the core platform for their RK3576 mainline Linux adaptation efforts.

This exhibition opened a new dimension for collaboration. Meanwhile, Collabora is driving the mainline adaptation of ISP (Image Signal Processor) technology. Recognizing ArmSoM’s self-developed camera module, the two companies are exploring opportunities to collaborate on its mainline integration. Collabora has also expressed strong interest in providing mainline Linux support for future Rockchip SoCs that ArmSoM adopts — building on the successful model established with the Sige5 platform to jointly advance upstream development for emerging hardware solutions.

Since its launch, ArmSoM Sige5 has gained widespread attention from global developers and industrial customers for its balanced performance and power efficiency. Powered by the RK3576 chip with 6 TOPS NPU computing power, it is ideally suited for edge AI applications such as smart vision, industrial HMI, and robotics. This in-depth collaboration with Collabora not only validates Sige5’s technical strength but also reflects ArmSoM’s firm commitment to open source ecosystem development. Going forward, the two parties will continue upstream development cooperation around the RK3576 platform, camera modules, and next-generation Rockchip SoC products — building a more complete and reliable open source technology ecosystem for the embedded industry.

“We’re not just building hardware — we’re building the foundation for open source to thrive on.” — ArmSoM Team
